Nice & Easy Doll's One-piece Circular Yoke Sweater
Here are the instructions for a DK weight sweater with a circular yoke knitted in one piece. I've described the general process in my last post. Instructions are modified to fit an 18" doll, but techniques for the tiers are from Irene Woods Round Yoke Sweater group on Facebook
Gauge: 22 stitches and 30 rows to 4”/10 cm
Yoke (Bottom Up) T3
Tier 1: Cast
on 106 needles with waste yarn and ravel cord.
Mark #15 and #37 left, then
#15 and #37 right for attaching bottom later
This leaves 16 needles for
fronts, 30 for back and 22 for sleeves
Knit 6 rows (6 row
Double up every third stitch.
(1-2-1-1-2) Total decrease is 34 stitches. Move unused needles to A position
Knit one row to secure
stitches. RC007
Scrap off 72 sts
Tier 2: Bring 72 sts to work
Hang yoke back on
Knit 6 rows (6 row
Double 3rd needle, then
every other needle. (1-2-1-2)Total decrease
24 stitches. Move unused needles to A position Knit across RC014
Scrap off 46 sts
Tier 3 (Neckline edge): Bring 46 needles to work
Knit 4 rows. RC018. Scrap
off
Knit 5 rows ribbing by hand.
Bind off.
Sleeves (Yoke Down) – make 2 T3
RC000
Re-hang 22 stitches for
sleeve marked along bottom of Tier 1.
Cast on 2 sts at beginning
of next 2 rows ( 26 sts on needles)
Decrease 1 st each end on
row 10 row and row 15 (22 sts)
Work even until RC 26.
Rib 5 rows by hand. Bind off.
Body (Yoke Down) – T3
RC000
Re-hang 16 stitches for
front, e-wrap 4 sts with small piece of yarn, hang the back 30 sts, e-wrap 4
sts, hang front 16 sts Total 70 sts.
Knit to RC 30
Scrap off at row 30 and rib 6
rows by hand. Bind off.
Bands (if not using hand knit band)
Button band: Pick up left
front edge 53 sts and knit 6 rows. Reform to rib. Bind off
Buttonhole band: Pick up right front edge 53 sts and knit 3 rows. On 4th row , transfer needles #3, 13, 23 and 33 to needle next to it. Knit 3 more rows. Bind off.
